This is going to sound like sacrilege, but I’m going to come out with it anyways.
I am a little bit sick of summer.
I’m a little tired of the humidity, the unrelenting sunshine, the sweat pouring down me the minute I step outside. I’m even (gasp!) a little sick of swimming.
I’m looking forward to my favorite season-of-all, my friend fall. Aside from the fact that the jeans-and-sweater weather is just plain more forgiving to the figure, I love everything about fall.
The crisp air.
Picking apples from our apple trees. ( I LOVE the fact that we have apple trees. I’ve even heard a humor that someone in the fam is going to try their hand at making apple wine from them…um, yes?)
The coziness of a fall storm.
Candles and cinnamon.
Pumpkin patches and hayrides.
Warm drinks and fattening, delicious coffee cakes.
Changing, rustling leaves.
Shall I continue?
My friend over at the story of our rookie years (ok, so we are not really friends, but I stalk her blog…lay off, all right?) has been posting all kinds of fall-y stuff and I am just in love with it all.
When fall arrives this year, I know I will relish it, as I always do. But until then, I am focusing on soaking up the rest of the summer while I can. I start my new job as a labor-and-delivery nurse (eeeek) at the end of the month, so I’m trying my hardest to pack all the summer fun in I can before then. On the agenda for the rest of the summer:
- Blueberry picking (tentatively schedule for tomorrow morning)
- The girls’ first camping trip
- At least two more beach trips
- Family bike ride on the new trails in town
- Lots of swimming
- Enjoying the bounty of our garden–can’t wait for those watermelons, baby!
And of course,
Playing in the rain.
How about you? What do you hope to do before the end of summer?? Any ideas I need to hit before I can give into fall-o-mania?
