37 weeks today!
Finally full-term. And as much as I’d like to get this babyoutofmelikeright now, I am also fully aware of the importance of every day’s development for the baby. And if I wasn’t, my co-workers would not let me forget it.
Morale of the story?
This baby is staying in as looong as possible.
I am however, considering an induction at 39 weeks (exactly two weeks away!!) for practicality’s sake. I am due on July 8. Ben starts teaching summer school on July 9. He can take (at most) 2 days off from summer school. I will be in the hospital at least that, if I’m lucky.
I’m really not sure of what to do. Considering the fact that I feel like my husband doesn’t even remember I’m pregnant, I am tempted to make sure he is around for the birth and after-math of bringing home a newborn. On the flip-side, however, I am really not a fan of messing with the natural business of birth. I’ve never even had an epidural, so an induction would be a huge deal to me.
So I’m still debating on that point. My OB said I can have the induction if I want it, so it’s kind of just up to me…
More importantly than that decision, however, is the one, small, nagging and lingering question surrounding the birth of this child:
We can’t, for the life of us, settle on a name.
I have my favorite (Logan).
And Ben has his (Jonathon).
But neither can the two agree.
Ben claims Logan is something “out of a thirteen-year-old girl’s diary.” (What the ??) Moreover, his years as a teacher have not helped any, ensuring that we have to rule out 80% of the names out there because they have been 1) his student 2) a troublemaker he heard about. It’s ridiculous.
I’ve taken to literally begging all of my patients to give me their leftover names. I feel like with the girls’ names, I need to keep up the tradition of slightly different names, with nothing too exotic.
I honestly felt like finding out the sex of this baby would help us out, but in a way, it almost seems more difficult, because he is just so real now.
It’s the final countdown now, so I’m taking suggestions!
