One of my writing idols in life is Meagan Francis, operator of the famous “The Happiest Mom” enterprise. I am in awe of Ms. Francis for many reasons–she created her successful mom/freelance writer career from scratch, combining raising five, count ’em, five kids, with navigating the crazy world of writing; she is a fellow Michigan mom and knows what it’s like to be a young mother in college–she’s been there and done that; and aside from all her writing creds and fun mom bio facts, her website is just plain awesome. I love her commonsense, laid-back, and relaxed vibe towards parenting. She’s the real deal, and it shows through her writing.
I’ve had the opportunity to contact with Meagan through email (read: I kinda sorta stalked her and she responded!) and have received lots of support and encouragement from her. Basically, I thought she couldn’t get any cooler, until one day, I saw this:
Learn about writing as a craft and career
with Meagan Francis of “The Happiest Mom”!
Last fall, much to my excitement, Meagan launched her first series of writing class. Basically, I was convinced they were designed for me– a mom and wanna-be writer. Plus, she offered one scholarship! The problem, however, was that I was starting my new job as a labor and delivery nurse at the exact same time and I worried I couldn’t give full attention to the class with intense training on the OB floor. Nonetheless, I applied for the scholarship…and didn’t get it. I chalked it up to poor timing and watched and waited for the right time.
Which is now.
I am now officially on my way to finding my path to be “The Happiest Mom,” starting with Meagan’s class, which begins on Monday, February 13. I was thrilled to find out that I had been awarded this year’s scholarship and so excited to take my writing to the next level. I really, really want to see if I have what it takes to turn writing into a successful work-from-home career with (gulp) three children.
I wanted to encourage any fellow wanna-be writers to take a look at Meagan’s classes–there are two tracks and customizable options. She also offers a discount to blog readers, so click on over to her site too. (She also happens to be doing a Michigan getaway giveaway if anyone is interested in that. Although I really want to win that too, so perhaps I shouldn’t share…) I know the money is going to be well worth it, and I was fully prepared to take this class either way.
Class starts Monday, so just thought I’d let you all know in case anyone is interested in taking the class. Let’s be classmates!
