It’s getting closer to baby time and if strangers’ reactions are any indication, I am clearly “about to pop” any day now. (Aka, every person I walked by at Kohls today when I waddled in to buy a new tank top in hopes I might survive the summer as something other than a sweaty pool of pregnant woman.)
Except, of course, I’m not.
I still have six or seven weeks to go, but we’ll just forget all that and focus on checking out some of the cool baby swag I’ve been collecting…
1. My Miracle Blanket
The lovely people at Miracle Blanket sent me this adorable pink and brown polka dot blanket for my upcoming bundle of joy and I am in love with it. I have always swaddled my babies, but I admit, despite my years as a labor and delivery nurse, that sometimes my middle-of-the-night swaddle is not my best work. Which is why I love how this blanket takes the hard work out of the equation and makes swaddling so easy. I had a winter version for my other babies, but this one is lightweight and perfect for my August baby. (Miracle Blanket, $30).
2. Inkless Newborn Footprint Kit
I started a trend with my oldest to capture and display her tiny newborn feet in a framed picture, so of course I’ve had to continue the tradition with every child lest I hear, “Mom loved ME the best!” and inadvertently place my kids in therapy. For this baby, I’m going with personalized wall art from PrintFusion, an Etsy shop that was kind enough to pre-ship the ink less newborn footprint kit to me ahead of time–and then once the baby is born, I just send the footprints back (in a pre-paid shipping package) and she creates the perfect newborn wall art for me! It’s totally customizable and includes a few birth details, like birthdate, weight, and length. (PrintFusion, $25).
3. Blanqi Belly Support
I am SO excited for my Blanqi belly support tank–I actually won this bad boy in a giveaway from the ever-cool Lauren Hartman of The Little Things We Do and all I can say is, it’s a darn good thing I won, because this belly is out of control. If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you may have seen how I’m dealing with polyhydramnios, a fun condition of pregnancy that has caused me to measure full-term, even though I’m only at 32 weeks. The result? I am a giant, swollen mess of miserable and I’m hoping that the Blanqi system will help me get through these last few weeks with the belly that is defying gravity! I’ve heard they are totally worth the investment and are great for the postpartum “nothing fits” period as well. (Blanqi, $68).
4. Nursing Cover
I went with the ol’ “free” Udder Cover and finally bought my first official nursing cover–you would think after nursing three kids exclusively I would have had one of these, but nope. I’ve spent my years struggling under a blanket or just letting it all hang out. This really seems genius because it has the neckpiece that is more rigid so I can actually see what the baby is doing to get her latched on. Plus, I love the pretty color I chose! (Grace Udder Cover, $35)
