Do you know what one of the worst parts about pregnancy is?
The fact that you can’t lay on your stomach.
If you are a stomach sleeper like me, the last few months of pregnancy, when all you want to do is flop down on your stomach and sleep for a thousand years, are excruciating. The combination of extreme fatigue, coupled with pain everywhere in your body makes a mockery out of the comfy bed you used to be able to inhabit.
During my pregnancies, I longed for rest and relaxation and something to ease the aching agony of sciatic nerve pain.
Enter pregnancy massage.
My mom dragged me to my first pregnancy massage while I was planning my wedding (yes, a whole different story, I was pregnant when I got married, ok? Don’t judge – or do, but keep your judgements to yourself.). I had never gotten a massage before and I was a little nervous about having a stranger touch me all over my body. Also, what was I supposed to wear? Should I be naked? Keep my undies on? What about my bra? But the second I walked into the massage room, all of my fears fell away, because I had eyes for only one thing:
Like a shining beacon of light in the middle of the room, the massage table, adorned with a giant pregnancy pillow—complete with a cut-out for my burgeoning belly.
Do you know what that meant?
I got to lay on my stomach
