Can we talk about pregnancy weight gain for a minute?
I know the buzz words of the day tell us that we need to love our bods and embrace our weight gain and stretch marks and I know that we are deeply skewed in what we think is a “normal” body thanks to celebrities who we don’t actually see in real life. And please tell me I’m not the only one who has compared herself to Amy Schumer and is genuinely shocked that she is only a size 6-8? Sign me up for the plus-size train, apparently.
But anyways, my point is, it’s hard to be a woman and sometimes it feels even harder to be a pregnant woman who happens to gain a lot of weight during pregnancy. I feel like a lot of times we forget that there is a purpose to that weight gain and if you’re eating right and exercising, your body can still pack on necessary pounds to you know, grow and sustain life. Not to mention it needs reserves for when you pop that kid out and have to start feeding it, again with our body. (Think cave woman times here, guys. That’s how our bodies still operate.)
Which is why, now and then, I like to comfort myself with looking up to celebrities who actually prove that despite the best trainers and healthy personal chefs that money can buy, there is still such a thing as biology.
